WE ASKED CHATGPT TO PLOT A PROPERTY

Can you upload a land title to ChatGPT and ask it to plot the property?
We decided to try it.
We uploaded the technical description from a title and asked ChatGPT to plot the lot based on the bearings and distances.
In less than two minutes, it produced a clean-looking diagram with boundary lines and labels.
Impressive.
It looked like exactly the kind of practical AI use that could save real estate professionals a lot of time.
Then we checked the plot ourselves.
The boundaries didn’t close.
A technical description made up of bearings and distances should generally bring you back to the point of beginning. If the resulting polygon doesn’t close, something needs to be verified: the source data, transcription, interpretation, rounding, or the actual plotting.
ChatGPT didn’t flag any of that.
It simply produced a convincing-looking plot.
And that may be one of the most useful lessons about AI right now:
Something can look professional, precise, and completely believable—and still be wrong.
AI is excellent for speeding up work, visualizing information, and doing first-pass analysis.
But when the output involves property boundaries, measurements, legal documents, or anything where accuracy really matters, a polished result is not a substitute for verification.
Use AI to work faster.
Use expertise to know when not to trust it.
